Special Events
While each day is exciting and filled with fun learning opportunities, our class participated in some special event days as a way to further build community and student engagement.
For “Dress as Your Favorite Story Character Day,” children came to school or joined our Zoom call dressed as their favorite character.
My 2018-2019 class became fascinated with monkeys after learning that they lived in trees. Therefore, I dressed as Curious George.

Piggie & Elephant
Since my 2020-2021 class enjoyed Piggie and Elephant books, I dressed as Gerald the elephant and my paraprofessional dressed as Piggy.
College Awareness Day
For College Awareness Day, students dressed as their desired career. My fully remote class celebrated College Awareness Day by coming to our live Zoom calls dressed as their desired career or by making a visual representation.
Crazy Hat Day
Crazy Sock Day
For my fully remote class, after reading Crazy Hair Day which celebrates friendship, love, and kindness, we celebrated Crazy Hat Day where students made fun hats and shared their work with our class.
After reading the book with my in-person class, students were excited to participate in crazy sock day.
Favorite Sports Team Day
In conjunction with our clothing unit, students wore an outfit to represent their favorite sport or team.
Pajama Day
We had a pajama day where students dressed in their sleepwear!
Fashion Design Day
At the conclusion of our clothing unit, students acted as fashion designers as they tied-dyed t-shirts. They enjoyed using rubber bands to make a design and dipping their shirts into different colors. They wore them for our class fashion show.
