Professionalism
FOUR YEARS OF PROGRESS

During the past 4 years at the District 2 Pre-K Center, I grew professionally and personally. After concluding my first year, I presented twice at the New Teacher Boot Camp. In addition, I led a workshop on the topic of transitions that included strategies to educators at my site. I was a featured presenter during two Wellness Team events, speaking about feelings tools to use at home and Black History Month.. As a founder of the Historical Committee, I attended workshops at the NY Historical Society where I learned different ways to incorporate social studies into the classroom which I shared with my colleagues. As a member of the Leadership Hiring Committee and Dual Language Hiring Committee, I developed interview questions and participated in evaluating potential candidates. As a member of both my school’s equity committee and the District 2 Teacher Advisory Group, I’ve participated in meaningful conversations about Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education. Cognizant of the important role parents play in their children’s lives, I have partnered with them - in-person and during remote learning - to create meaningful relationships that promote each child’s individual well-being. In this section, I have included several ways in which I have engaged families and furthered my professional development.
