At the start of each unit of study, I draw the children into the learning experience through activating their prior knowledge by asking them what they know about the topic. This opportunity allows children to share their personal knowledge. I also encourage the children to ask questions with regards to what they wonder about the topic. Throughout the study, our class will answer their questions. This allows students to actively participate in shaping their learning process.
